"The training levels have concluded. Now the games may truly begin."
The ratings and views are off the chart. The fans just can't get enough. The dungeon gets more dangerous each day. But in a grinder designed to chew up and spit out crawlers by the millions, Carl and Princess Donut must work harder than ever just to survive.
They call it the Over City. A sprawling, once-thriving metropolis devastated by a mysterious calamity. But these streets are far from abandoned. An undead circus trawls the ruins. Murdered prostitutes rain from the sky. An ancient spell is finally ready to reveal its dark purpose.
Carl still has no pants.
They call it Dungeon Crawler World. For Carl and Donut, it's anything but a game.
A fun read. If you enjoyed the first book, you'll likely enjoy this one as well.
With the "tutorial" completed, Carl and Donut arive on the third floor of the dungeon, where things become a bit more complex and intense. New (to the series) concepts like quests, glitches, and exploits are introduced and things move along at a more brisk and consistent pace, which made the overall read feel tighter and more focused for me.
I still have some issues with certain aspects of the storytelling and some of the recurring elements felt just as overused as they did for me by the end of book one; however, I again found a lot more to like and will definitely continue the series at some point.
This will probably be a one or two book per-year read for me as I feel a little time and space between each volume will enhance my enjoyment of it and negate the fatigue from the more repetitious elements, which I'm now certain would sour the experience in my case if they were binged.
