Corrections System
Our site thrives on the contributions of a dedicated community of book lovers. Unlike massive corporations with endless
resources, we rely on the collective expertise and passion of our users to ensure the accuracy and reliability of information
about
books, editions, authors, and series. With a robust corrections system, we empower everyone to play a part in maintaining high
standards of quality and trustworthiness while continuously improving our data together.
Submitting Corrections
Users can submit corrections for any data entry on the platform. This includes:
- Books: Title, Description, Author, Series, and Original Publication Date.
- Editions: Cover Image, Page Count, Format, Publisher, Published Date, and Parent Book.
- Authors: Names, Description/Bio, Portrait.
Voting on Corrections
Once a correction is submitted, it becomes visible to the community for evaluation. Users can vote up or
down
on corrections based on their accuracy and relevance.
- Upvotes: Indicate agreement or validation of the correction.
- Downvotes: Indicate disagreement or that the correction may not be accurate.
The total vote count determines the visibility and priority of the correction:
- High-voted corrections are prioritized for review by administrators.
- Low-voted corrections may be deprioritized or flagged for reconsideration.
Automatic Acceptance of Corrections
Corrections may be automatically accepted without administrator intervention if they receive a sufficient number of
positive
votes
within a
specified timeframe. This feature accelerates the integration of accurate and widely agreed-upon updates.
Reputation and Weight of Submissions
To recognize and reward consistent contributors:
- Users who submit high-quality corrections over time earn a reputation score.
- High-reputation users may have their submissions given more weight in voting calculations.
- Submissions from highly reputable users may be automatically accepted under certain conditions, bypassing
additional
community votes or administrator reviews.
Administrator Oversight
While community input drives the system, administrators retain the ability to:
- Review and finalize corrections.
- Overturn or revise corrections that were improperly accepted.
- Provide feedback on declined submissions to guide future improvements.
