I was excitedly given this book by one of my colleagues at Oxfam and I finished it the same day. What refreshing take! What an easy to read sci-fi! I genuinely laughed out loud multiple times and basically had this book stuck to my hand all day.

This book is very engaging and the protagonist is both hilarious and relatable. I cannot wait to absolutely gobble up this series, this was an incredibly strong start to reading Martha Wells' work and I am eager for more. The writing reminds me of Mike Carey (Fellside, Girl With all the Gifts) who I also think is very good.

5 stars, it's perfect. I will rate all future sci-fi with this book in mind
