A compelling collection of eclectic tales.

Being fairly familiar with several of the authors featured in this anthology, I had high expectations for it.

I was not disappointed.

"Where the Mood Leads" features a variety of generally short works: some gritty and grounded, some more whimsical or fanciful, often but not necessarily containing elements of speculative fiction such as horror, dark fantasy, and sci-fi.

It's worth noting that all of the stories are collaborations between the featured authors and the collection's creator, Wayne Fenlon. This makes for some unique and interesting results as their individual styles mesh, warp, or otherwise play off one another in ways fans of their distinct literary voices will almost certainly find intriguing and enjoyable.

I hesitate to say much more as I believe all of these tales would be better experienced without much preamble beyond what's indicated in the book's description; however, I will call out "The Girl Who Never Blossomed" by Yolanda Sfetsos and Wayne Fenlon as my personal favorite simply because it really stood out for me despite being surrounded by seven quite worthy and entertaining tales from other talented authors.

Bottom line: If you're looking for a quick and satisfying spectrum of diverse short fiction to sample, I highly recommend going with "Where the Mood Leads."
